Privacy Policy
What Tied to the Beat collects, what it does not, and how Steam integrations work.
Short version: Tied to the Beat does not run any custom telemetry server. It does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to the developer. All data that does flow comes from Steam integrations described below and is governed by Steam's own privacy policy.
This policy applies to the full game and the demo (Steam App IDs 4316340 and 4512940).
1. Data Steam handles
The game is distributed exclusively through Steam and uses the Steam SDK. The following data is processed by Steam, not by Lianes8:
- Steam ID: used to load and save your progress, achievements, and leaderboard entries.
- Display name: shown in the Workshop for content you upload, and in any in-game social view.
- Achievements: unlocked and synced via Steam Cloud.
- Cloud saves: your local save file is replicated to Steam Cloud if you have it enabled in Steam.
- Playtime, ownership, region: collected and shown by Steam itself, not by the game.
See Valve's privacy policy for details on how Steam uses this data.
2. Data stored only on your device
The following is stored locally and never leaves your computer unless you opt into Steam Cloud:
- Save files (progress, unlocks, settings, sun mood, achievements progress).
- Custom songs you import from disk (MP3 files and generated LRC lyric timing).
- Game configuration (graphics, audio, controls, language).
- Crash logs (only readable by you, not transmitted).
Save and config locations: %APPDATA%/Tied to the Beat/ on Windows.
3. Steam Workshop content
If you upload custom songs to the Steam Workshop, the content (track metadata, lyric files, your Steam display name) becomes public on the Workshop page for that item. Lianes8 does not store a separate copy.
You can delete uploaded items from your Workshop profile at any time. Deleted items are removed from Steam following Valve's data retention policy.
4. What the game does NOT collect
- No custom analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting server.
- No email, phone, payment data, or IP address logged by the developer.
- No third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No fingerprinting of hardware beyond what Steam itself reports.
- No microphone or webcam access. The game listens to song files you provide, never to your microphone.
5. Children and age
The game is rated PEGI 7 / ESRB E (no recommended age below 7 due to mild fantasy violence). The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the game does not collect personal data directly, age handling is governed by Steam's account requirements (Steam requires users to be 13+).
6. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA)
For Steam data, exercise your rights through your Steam account settings or contact Valve directly.
For locally stored data, you can delete it at any time by removing the game's folder under %APPDATA%/Tied to the Beat/ or by uninstalling the game through Steam.
If you believe the developer holds personal data about you that is not covered above, contact the address in section 8.
7. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the game gains new integrations (multiplayer, cross-platform saves, etc). The current version is dated below and the change history is tracked in the project repository.
